About the Artist

Rebekah Younger is a creator pure and simple; creating artwork, knit clothing, interiors, businesses, communities and books. She brings her love of creating to all aspects of her life, sharing it with others through teaching mindful creativity. Rebekah shares the wisdom she gleaned on her creative journey in her book, Be, Awake, Create: Mindful Practices to Spark Creativity

Art Career

Her journey began in her twenties, when she owned The Great Frame Up in Hyde Park and exhibited both local and international artists in her gallery, Younger Gallery, including her own work. In 1988, she sold the business to move to California where she began designing one of a kind knitwear.

Her garments, Younger Knits, have been shown in major museum exhibits of art to wear and on magazine covers. For more than 24 years, Rebekah sold her line of knits through craft shows and wearable art galleries.

She received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Goddard College in 2008.  Rebekah works with whatever media seems appropriate to the project.  As you will see from her portfolio, her range of media is quite varied. It includes classic fine art and craft media, interiors, photography, textiles and more.  She is currently showing her paintings, a woodcut and photographs at The Great  Frame Up.

Influences

Rebekah’s creativity is influenced by being a student of Tibetan Buddhism in the Kagyu Nyingma tradition.  She teaches programs that combine the dharma art teachings of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche with meditation. Her greatest joy is witnessing others awaken to things as they are and express it through their creations.

Return to Hyde Park

Rebekah moved back to Hyde Park in 2018.  She teaches photography, creating and meditation, while working part time in the store.  She also offers coaching and workshops to individuals and organizations on mindfully engaging in the creative process.
